Charles Henry Miller
American, 1842-1922

Charles Henry Miller travelled to Europe to study medicine but changed his career in favor of the fine arts.  He studied at the academy in Munich and then under the painter Adolf Lier in 1869.  He also studied at the National Academy of Design from 1867-70; Academy Julian, Paris, 1894-96.  He then returned to the United States where he became a member of the New   York Academy in 1875.

He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, 1860-1921; Brooklyn Art League 1872-84, 1891-92; Philadelphia Centennial (Gold Medal); Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts 1979-99; Boston Art Club 1880-1907; (Gold Medal); Art Institution of Chicago 1888-1904; New Orleans, (Gold Medal).
