A Fine Pair Of Louis XVI Gilded Sconces Stamped A.Chertier
19th Century

Chertier, a specialist in ecclesiastical work in silver and bronze received a gold medal as coopirateur at the Exposition Universelle of 1855 while working as foreman at the House of Bachelet in Paris. In 1857 he founded his own firm at 48, rue Mazarin, moving to 7, rue Firu in 1866. His important works, produced after 1870, include those for the church of Mont-Saint-Michel, and for the cathedrals of Saint-Omer, Reims, Moulins and Strasbourg.
