Libby Momberg
American, 1930-2009Libby was born on September 7, 1930 to Gilbert and Alice (Caward) Bennett in Omaha, NE. She lived there until age 13 before moving to Ames, IA with her family. She graduated from Ames High School.
Libby attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO where she earned a BA in Art. Upon graduation, she returned to Ames and met her husband, Darrel Momberg. They raised five children.
Over the next 25 years, Libby established a successful interior design business called Libby Momberg Design Studio. She also developed her gift for painting and became a well-known Iowa artist. One of the most important parts of her life was painting on weekends with the Saturday Afternoon Sketch Club. She loved her garden and enjoyed painting the flowers that grew there and elsewhere around the Greater Des Moines area.
