Gustave Madelain
French, 1867-1944

Gustave Madelain exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Independants from 1907 and acquired a reputation as a painter of the river banks.  He also painted a number of canvases of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris.  The execution of his paintings is characterized by heavy brushstrokes.  One can strongly see his influence from the early French impressionist school.
