George Derville Rowlandson
British, 1861 -1928George Derville Rowlandson was born 1861 in India, studied at Gloucester, Westminster and Paris. Rowlandson painted figure scenes, sporting subjects, landscapes and animals and he painted oils and watercolors. He is best known for his equestrian portraits.
Some of his work can be found at the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in Lake Worth, Florida.
Numerous works by the artist have been sold at auction, including '2 WORKS: On the scent; and Clearing the hedge' sold at Christie's South Kensington 'Sporting & Wildlife Art Including an Important Private Collection of Works by Archibald Thorburn and Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe' in 2010 for $12,056. The artist died in 1930.
He exhibited from 1911 to 1918 and showed his work at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours on four occasions
