Jean-Yves Commere
French, 1920-1986

In 1938 he enters the school of Beaux arts in Paris. He works with Landowiski and Niclausse.  He exhibits at the salon of Independent artists, at the Autumn salon, at the Salon of the Painters. He is awarded the grand Prize in 1963 at the Salon of Tuileries.

In 1951 exhibition at the gallery Monique De Groove, again in 1953, 1955, 1957, then in London, Geneva, New York in 1971, (Gallery Philippe Reichenbach), in Paris in 1985 ( Gallery Guigne). In 1953 he was awarded the Prize of Young Painters and in 1973 the Grand Prize Francis Smith.  He has been invited to the Venice Biennale in 1958.  After his death retrospective exhibitions took place at the Museum in Paris in 1987 then at the Moulin de Vanboyen in Brievre, then in 1988 “40 years of paintings” in 1989 at the centre Paul Gauguin in Park Oven & the Autumn Salon in Paris.
